I found out how to (mostly) fix nighttime! In-game you go to, OPTIONS, Video Options, then put Monitor Gamma all the way to 2.5. Problem is then pretty much fixed.

Or you can take a flashlight and point it at the monitor while singing "Good Morning Sunshine"
