Yah, I hate it too... updated it on my laptop, just came home from vacation so my steam on home PC still has old version so i'm gonna try NOT to update as long as possible, got my PC on all the time so lets hope I wont be needing to restart for months

On a serious note, who the he'll from valve thought that was a good idea? Some steam users who may be a bit "delicate" to certain images may not like this forced feature... they did add a small transparent X in the top of the image which helps. A little..
