Getting Started  Back to the top
    • Download and install the mod in the usual manner
      • Go to the NordInvasion Website and navigate to the download section located here.
      • Use any of the installation methods on that page to install the module.
    • Use your existing Warband character or create a new one and join a NordInvasion server
    • As soon as you join you should see a activation code come up in blue writting. Write this number down!
    • Go back to the NordInvasion website and enter your Character Name and Activation Code
    • Please note, Internet Explorer is not supported by this mod

Once you click Activate those same boxes will change and prompt you for the password, so go ahead and enter it.

Once it's done, this password will be used for all your future characters. When starting an alternative character (alt), you need to join a server with the new character and then navigate to the nordinvasion.com website, go to Account and scroll down until you see 'Activate Characters' which then you simply press the 'Activate' button to make that character usable.

To find your character code, log on to www.nordInvasion.com, and your character code/player ID is located on the top right.

Experience Points (XP)  Back to the top

    How to gain XP

You get XP for killing an enemy or completing certain quests. You also gain Assist XP for being in proximity of the player who killed the enemy , not near the killed enemy. If an archer kills an enemy, players around the archer(not its victims) earn the same amount of XP they would have earned killing it, except they gain it as Assist XP.

    Categories of XP

Depending on how you killed your victim, the XP will go in different categories (Ranged, Melee). So killing a Nord with a melee weapon will earn you Melee XP , using ranged (Throwing, Crossbow, Bow) will earn you Ranged XP.

    Level

Your current total XP is based on the 3 kind of XP put together and will give you your total XP, which your Level is based on. Each time you level, it gives you a Class Point (CP) and will upgrade your main stats (Strength & Agility).

    Class Points (CP)

CPs are used to unlock classes. Once you unlock a class, you lose the CPs needed.

    Converting the Assist XP

Since assist XP cannot be used directly (except to get Support classes), it has to be converted. The ratio to convert it depends on the category you which to get. For Ranged , it is at x0.4 (40%) and for Melee x0.5 (50%). You can also use the Assist XP to convert it into gold at x0.2 rate (20%).

    Crafting Experience Points

When you start , you get to pick a profession. You took the wrong one ? Not to worry, you can always forget your profession and start again. When killing an enemy, you have a small chance of getting a loot. Those loot are usually materials used in crafting. When you craft , you get XP depending on the level of the craft. After reaching the level requirement, it brings you to the next level where it unlocks different other possibilities, which gives you more XP each time. Blacksmith is for weapon, Armorsmith for armor and Alchemy can do miscellaneous items.

    Gameplay  Back to the top

    Goal

The goal of Nord Invasion is to survive as long as you can, or if you're worthy enough, to kill the Prince and his minions. Enemies come by wave, and each time it gets harder and harder. Every 4 waves, you face a boss and after defeating that round, it allows fallen players to revive and fight again. Enemy waves are based on the number of players. The more players playing on the same server , the bigger and harder the waves are. But more enemies also means more XP (direct and assist) and more chance to drop an item.

    Loot

When killing an enemy, there is a small chance that it will drop an item. Most of the items are crafting goods, which are use as materials to craft weapons, armor, etc. The stronger the enemy, the better the loot is. They can also drop normal weapons and armor in addition of the Legendary Items. The Legendary Items are very rare drops that are better than buyable items and worth a lot on the Auction Hall.

    Item Colors
Items are categorized according to this color code:
    • Store bought crafting ingredients - Grey
    • Expensive store bought crafting ingredients - Yellow
    • Regular Crafting drops - Tan
    • Rarer Crafting drops - Brown
    • Crafted Materials - Purple
    • Store bought gear - Black
    • Personal crafted Gear - Green
    • Top quality personal crafted gear - Cyan
    • House crafted gear - Blue
    • Legendary drops - Orange
    • Legendary drops with the highest stats - Red

    Quests

Quests are given depending the level of the player and when completed, reward the player with Faction Points (which will be useful later on as the game advance), XP, weapons and gold. Once completed, quests are unavailable for a minimum of 1 day , up to 7 days (depending on the level of the quest). You can do the quests over and over to get Faction Points, gold and XP ! Most of the quests are a list of enemies that have to be killed in order to get the reward.

    Marketplace, Auction Hall & Trading

The Marketplace is where you can buy and sell to the shop. The shop is like the bank in Monopoly, nobody owns it. The shop sells basic equipment and weapon, and more will be unlocked as you progress in different class.

The players have access, once registered, to the Auction Hall , which consist of a market where you can buy or sell items that you crafted, earned, or looted. Very useful to sell the materials that don't fit your profession. There are a minimum fee to post, and a tax of 5%. You can at anytime retrieve the item you were trying to sell, but won't get the minimum fee and the tax gold back. You can find the Aunction Hall i by putting your mouse over the Market Place section on the website.

The trading is only for people in the same house. It allows you to exchange or give things to your fellow house members without paying taxes or fees.

    Class Selection

There are currently four available classes in NordInvasion. Each class has its strengths and weaknesses, and you can combine classes to make hybrids.

Archer -> Longbowman -> Heavy Longbowman -> Sniper
The archer line utilizes bows and is strong at range. In exchange for speed, archers are more difficult to aim with.
    Archer Progression

Infantry -> Heavy Infantry -> Sergeant -> Commando
Infantry have the strongest armor and shields, allowing them to take the most punishment. Proficiency in one handed weapons and two handed weapons is also high.
    Infantry Progression

Crossbowman -> Heavy Crossbowman -> Man At Arms -> Sharpshooter
The crossbowman line has both ranged and melee capabilities. Crossbows are highly accurate but slow to reload compared to bows. Crossbowmen are also proficient at using sword and shield, though they are not on the same level as Commandos.
    Crossbowman Progression

Militia -> Skirmisher -> Heavy Skirmisher -> Pikeman
The Skirmisher line relies on polearms and throwing weapons. Sacrificing armor for speed, skirmishers are currently the fastest class in the game.
    Skirmisher Progression

Depending on which class you choose, you will unlock different weapons and armors in the shop (Marketplace)

Tier 4 (level 52) and beyond!

Once you reach Tier 4/level 52 you can the progress to becoming the next Swadian Hero for 13 Class points and 750k. Choose wisely though as once you choose your hero class you can never go back.
As there are many Hero Classes for different classes (3 per class in fact!) here's a helpful link to some great guidance: http://forum.nordinvasion.com/index.php?...946.0.html

    House

Houses in Nord Invasion are like Clans/Guilds. By joining a house, it allows you to trade with its members and more features (like the campaign) will be available later on in upcoming patches.

You can find a list (and apply) for most of the houses in this section

    House Crafting

One big advantage of being in a house is the House Crafting. It allows the house to craft items that wouldn't be craftable otherwise.

House crafting is split into three specialisations:

Defender - Specialized in crafting the finest armours)
Attacker - Specialized in crafting the most powerful weapons)
Support - Specialized in crafting cutting edge medical equipment and structural engineering).

You can find more information about house crafting here

    Support Classes

To join a support class, you need to have reached the minimum level required and to have the required Assist XP; it doest not require any Class Point.

Medic : This support class is used to heal wounded teammates and at the highest level, revive fallen allies.

    Items Medics can use :

    Nurse: Simple Med kit's
    Field Medic: Medic Boxes
    Field Surgeon: Surgeon's Kit's
    Master Surgeon: Resurrection Tome.

Engineer : This support class can refill ammo (arrows/throwing weapons) and medic kits by dropping an ammo box(usable only once) on the ground. It is also able to to construct barricades and place explosive barrels.

    Items Engineers can use :

    Tinkerer: Small Ammo box
    Apprentice: Normal Barricade
    Engineer: Heavy Barricade
Siege Engineer: Explosive Barrel and Short Heavy Barricade

Note that Deployable Shields a re usable by anyone and have to be equipped in the Support Slot in your inventory.

    Respec

Respec is an option that (at a high cost of gold, based on your current level) let you reset ONLY your Class Points to change class.

    In-Game Items

During the game, you will come across helpful items that will help you regain health, ammo, restore your shield, heal your horse and gather ingredients. To use , simply hold the "use" button (default "F") and hold it until the progression bar is completed.

Healing Pot / Beer Barrel / Healing Stations : This magical soup heals you completely. It is often located in the spawn , and sometimes at some advanced outposts.

Fixed Ammo Box : You will regain all your ammo and medic kits. It is also located in spawn and often at a second location.

Anvil: The anvil is used to restore your shield to full health. Only the shield that is currently equipped is restored, so if you have three shields that are battered, you'll have to cycle through them all and use the anvil on them in order to have them all repaired.

Shrine : The shrine is a quick full restore which costs 25 gold per level. Like the ammo refill, the shrine will not restore ammo crates, deployable shields, barricades, heavy barricades, explosive barrels, or resurrection tomes. The shrine is also use for the Quest "Praise be to the Gods."

    Hard Mode

Hard Mode is a mode for advanced players (level 32+) where they can find better challenges that suit their level. People under level 32 do NOT get XP , Gold or Loot from that mode. Some of the more advanced/rarer crafting materials only drop from Hard mode+ which can be used in more advanced crafting.

    Ragnarok Mode

Ragnarok Mode is an even more challenging mode than Hard Mode, it's there for very advanced players (level 39+) where it gives the higher level players a difficult challenge. Similar to Hard Mode people under the level of 39 do NOT gain XP, Gold or Loot. Ragnarok also drops the rarest of loots and the best of items

    Preparation Time
Preparation time was released in one of the recent updates and is there to provide a time for people to build barricades, refill ammo, heal and repair shields. During this time the building of barricades, refilling and repairing tiwisel significantly reduce to give everyone a chance to do so. Use this time wisely as it only lasts around 15-40 seconds (depending on the wave and number of players).

Unwritten Laws (XP)  Back to the top

A few things that aren't taught at the beginning (but you get to see that quickly) are what we call "unwritten laws".

    Saving last

When someone asked to save last or just say "Save", it means that they don't want the last Nord enemy to be killed. Why ? So they can go refill their ammo and health without having to face an entire new wave. In most of the case, the shielders or commandos (someone with good armor who won't die in 1 hit) with good ping will "hold" (or kite) the last Nord by blocking all of his attacks using automatic direction blocking (that you can enable in your options). When people are ready for the next wave , they'll say "r".

When saving, try to avoid killing the last ranger or an easy target. This way, it is much easier for the guy who will be holding the last bot alive to survive if he messes up and get hit, then if he has to hold a very tough Nord that could kill him in a few hits. Since the person who is holding the last Nord cannot really talk, people will have the decency to replace him by kicking the Nord (changing his aggression toward the player who kicked him).

    "R"

When people are done refilling their ammo, their health and constructed their barricades, they will use the letter "r" to say that they are "ready".

    "H"

When people get injured behind the shield wall and are low in health, instead of asking nicely "Can I have heal please", they will simply say "h". They don't mean to be rude or to be not grateful, they are just busy and in the heat of the action, time and focus are important.

    Target Priority

This one is an important one if you are Ranged. It simply means that when you are behind the shield wall, you have to use target priority when attacking. Don't kill the peasant at the shield wall because he's holding all the stronger Nords behind, away from the shield wall. It may look like an easy kill, but you won't be helping your team if all you care is your Kill/Death ratio. The priority are always what can kill people at the shield wall or behind, and what can destroy barricades and shields quickly. This mean that you will want to aim for those crazy Berzerkers because their axes have bonus against shields and really do massive damage to the shieldwall. You'll want to shoot those Rangers and Eastern Adventurers because they tend to have very good aim and kill easily people behind and at the shield wall. Also, Battle Priests archers should target these as much as possible as when they swing their weapon, they heal a percentage of the nords.

    Slasher Weapons & Dedicated Slashers

If someone has a higher Power Strike, he should be the one slashing since he does potentially the most damage. It is agreed that if you are shielding or you are in the back helping with healing or you're using ranged attacks, you should be lending your melee weapon if it is better than what the "dedicated slasher" is using. That way we are optimizing the damage dealt to the Nords, increasing our chances to go further. It is the basic of a good teamplay in a server.

    Friendly Nord

Sometimes it happens that a Nord isn't aggressive toward the players and will simply run toward them without attacking. It's called "hugging". When this happen, people will call on the chat that the Nord is "friendly" and this means that he should not be attacked unless he is blocking the other Nords at the shield wall. Slashers don't usually have time to stop attacking when realizing that the Nord at the shield wall is friendly. If you do get a friendly bot that isn't at the shield wall, you must not attacking him. This way, everybody can refill their ammo and health without having to press the right mouse button at every attack the Nord does in order to "hold" him. As of now, it is still confusing why some Nords do not target players.

Should probably tell them about the healing pot, ammo box, horse trough, and shrine as well. Maybe you should add some screenshots. A lot of newer players ask what the shrine does and typing out "heals you, your shield, your horse, and restores arrows" every time gets tiring. Also should mention that it's the only way to repair shield.

I agree with all of the above Smile

Maybe you could explain in your introduction that you first need to enter a server and then go to NordInvasion with the password you receive? It's something I still see players struggle with.

very good guide, one thing that might be worth adding to the top bit re the activation code, I'm always surprised how many players dont know that they can press L and get a list of whats been said, 2 of my friends who i've been speaking too at the time of first joining have missed the code and not known what to do about it.

maybe just a quick sentence saying they can press L to see if they've missed it.

Great guide!
And when we get to heaven,
To st peter we will tell,
One more soldier reporting sir,
Iv'e served my time in hell.
