Im pretty new here been playing for about a week, I have an infantryman but I want to make an archer too, when I create a new character and login to nord invasion servers it gives me a sword, shield, and darts, my question is how can I start with the equipment of a bowman, is there a class selection option I am overlooking or do I have to start as infantry and buy a bow and arrows ?
Nah man, you have to use those darts like a boss to get the 5k archer xp for the first tier of the class. Sucks, don't it?
Alternatively, you just need to survive long enough to collect 12,500 assist xp.

In reality, these both routes combine.

It's not as difficult as it sounds though, for as long as you stick to big companies of experienced players, stay close to action and survive (actually contributing to the fight is a bonus) you'll get those first 5 levels quite fast.
Hmm can you buy Light Crossbow in marketplace ?
If you can, it is one way to get some ranged xp.

Or then buy Short Bow from Auction Hall, it should be usable by everyone.
It isn't, you must be an archer to buy shortbow. Light Crossbow, however, is an option. However a new player is much more likely to become an archer before he will collect enough money for a light crossbow anyway. :-)
I suggest finding cursed stones from the auction house. They are less expensive than the crossbow and bolts combination, I believe. Even at low levels, it is a pretty good option.
Light xbow, bolts, darts, and cursed stones are I believe the only options for ranged unless you're in the archer branch.
The way I did it was I bought cursed stones and had two stacks a Sword and shield and sat next to the higher level archers helping any way I could. I wasn't leeching rather I was assassin meat shield and would be a human shield Tongue

Find a way to be useful while you soak in assistance experience and often it'll go by allot easier.
Yes Gomer had the right idea. If you can stop allies from dying to assassins by buying even a few seconds of time, that is good. Just don't get in the line of fire.
Thanks for the replys guys, I have one more question, when you spend class points are they gone forever ? I just upgraded to heavy infantry and all the points are gone
