Re: Psychological thrillers - Kwal - 28-03-2012 The Bunker. Wikipedia says it best: "In late 1944 the remnants of a platoon of German Panzergrenadiers from the Großdeutschland Division are caught in an Ambush by American troops. In their retreat, they find a bunker, manned by an old man (John Carlisle) and a young boy ( Andrew-Lee Potts). Left to defend the bunker and presuming themselves surrounded by the US forces which ambushed them, they are left by Area Command "to wait until relieved". As the night proceeds, strange tunnels are found beneath the bunker and the situation in the bunker becomes increasingly tense. Convinced that the enemy has worked their way into the tunnels, a terrible game of cat and mouse develops. Stalked by shadowy figures, it becomes increasingly unclear where their fantasies end and the danger begins." Really awesome and terrifying movie, one of the better horror-type movies I've seen. Re: Psychological thrillers - hkevin - 13-04-2012 I am not a fan of watching thrillers and horror movies but I think that the best ones are the ones that do not scare you by showing weird looking creatures that could scare you right of the bat. The most effective ones are the ones that play with your mind and to some level, it should be a cause by which you would not be able to sleep for a couple of more nights after seeing the flick. What do you think about that? Re: Psychological thrillers - Kwal - 13-04-2012 That's the idea. A relatively new movie called 'Shutter Island' is also definitely worth watching. Re: Psychological thrillers - BigBird - 13-04-2012 Seen it twice , enjoyed it ;D Re: Psychological thrillers - Chris - 14-04-2012 (28-03-2012, 11:22 AM)BigBird link Wrote: Im looking for things that mess with my head more than try to scare me. Donnie Darko will mess with your mind, I still have no clue what it is really about. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donnie_Darko http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0246578/ As for psychological thrillers: A Clockwork orange is a really weird film the last half an hour is "unusual" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Clockwork_Orange_(film) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0066921/ The grudge is another random film that will scare you http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Grudge http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0391198/ The suicide club would be my final choice for the choices. Only watch it if you have nothing else to watch, it is a really weird film that will play with your mind. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suicide_Club_(film) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0312843/ Re: Psychological thrillers - Hypernoma - 14-04-2012 (26-03-2012, 08:51 PM)Fingus link Wrote: I would recommend Oldboy if you haven't seen it. You won't regret it.Epic korean shenanigans right there! Re: Psychological thrillers - Tarimoth - 15-05-2012 Did a Saw marathon with some friends last weekend - all 7 movies. They are damn deep, not just mindless gore as alot of people miscredit them for. There is a deep, frightingly truthful purpose behind the traps and challenges (murders) set up by Jigsaw. You could actually say that the murderer is the main character of the movies - he is certainly deep and very developed. Re: Psychological thrillers - Chris - 15-05-2012 I love the saw movies, the deaths are so amazing. The main character of a book/movie/story/poem/etc. doesn't have to be a good person. He's just the main focus of the whatever-the-fuck-you're-reading/watching. Re: Psychological thrillers - Kwal - 18-05-2012 Saw movies are boring. Hellraiser is a lot more fun. |
