I like the Messer personally, I am going Skirmisher when I hit 52 (6 levels away). Are there any better weapons for them than Snipers can have?

i usually take warbow, 2x arrows and a barricade and grab a weapon when the barricade is set up. as an archer you shouldnt need to go in melee - when you are forced use amelee weapon then every grabbed weapon should be enough to block until help arrives . when there is no help anymore left then the best melee weapon wouldnt help you anyway - game over.

I agree with this and you can always pick up an melee weapon from a downed enemy or so.
