50% drop rates on later wave nords and bosses would be absolutely ridiculous. The Prince is not the only npc that drops useful loot, a LOT of other bosses and nords drop useful stuff. You can kite hard mode and get hardened metal from just the first wave. Yes the loot system needs to be reworked, but the devs are already working on that, although there is no ETA on the new system's release.
