you can pull out 1hs faster than 2hs so theres that. so u can block/attack quickly if u need so

Let's not go into making an archer as powerful as infantry in melee, or equip him with shielding. With this upgrade we got pikeman who can shield. Runs this days are pretty much this tactics: 1. spam walls 2. spam projectiles 3. gg wp
Few steps more and infantry classes will become obsolete...
