When I play Crossbow what I bring in depends on what the team needs. If we have enough cades I will bring in a full loadout of weapons. If we don't I usually Drop the 1 hander and pick it up from the commandos.

An other option would be to spawn with shield+crossbow+bolts and shc. Or as mentioned before 1h +2 shields and support item.

crossbow, bolts and tome, dont have a shield or 1 h weapon, i pick one up

I believe this has been discussed sufficiently.
We cannot physically give players more weapon slots. There is a different solution being worked on that will affect all classes.
