Faster and easier isn't always better, because of the fact we all know that if someone is spamming, they will not likely mute him, they will complain and fight with the spammer instead which if he's trolling is the desired effect. It's better to stop it at the root of the problem and keep the spamming from existing at all.

What admin, with what i suggested it should remove the need of an admin for this problem altogether reducing the workload for them.

i think the game will lose a good part when you can mute other Players. For me it is a part of a public Server that some People talking shit and the most time the things they are talking about are funny. Ist like you are sitting in a Train and 2 other peoples discuss next to you so you can`t mute them.
The only think that made me angry is when People talking in some language wich no one will understand ( expect my enlgish ;D ).
So if there are probably more consequences if someone use another langugae then enlgish or the language which is the regoin of the Server that would be nice.
But a mute i think is disproportionate.

Currently the mute chat function only works for the T and Y chat, not the U one, so yeah, I'd be down for that to be fixed. Admins can't always be in a server to deal with a troll.

I can see how this could very easily turn into one of the most trolling features in game.
Someone just simply mutes everyone else and starts trolling, Unable to see when it is needed to tome or not to tome. Uses all the tomes and ignores everything that is said about not using them.
It would probably crate more problems than it would solve.
