I'lll direct you to the changelog in the latest patch:
Quote:Changed the ratio at which you gain strength / agility making it take a lot longer. However the difficulty requirements to buy weapons in the marketplace have been halved to compensate for this.
This is done on purpose, and it may still change again at a later date, but this should help balance it out a bit

Yup, str gives extra damage and hp.

Less Agility means slower swing speed.

Incorrect, agility improves your swing and running speed.
