Thinking about getting some, are they worth it at all? Or just terrible?

Not sure why anyone would prefer cut over pierce...
Might be good for Legionnaire but for pikeman, CTS is best! (Unless you like high projectile speed and more ammo)

These Pierce throwables also go through shields, I'd also take CTS over VHTA

Depends what class you're using and what mode you're playing on. VHTA is a must-have for Legionnaire, but they're not that great for pikeman unless you play normal or hard a lot.
I'd say you should just stick with CTS for pikeman.
