In the pic im wearing a Footman's Helmet. Body Armor : Again its what you like but I suggest wearing the best protecting armor. I think infantry can wear Leather Jerkins but I don't know if they are as protective as marketplace but there are cheap to buy and don't look half bad. Im wearing Leather Armor. Hand Armor : I suggest getting Leather glovessince they're more affordable and im not sure if infantry can use mail gauntlets or not. Im wearing Leather Gloves. Foot Armor : Foot armor is the last thing needed on your list since damage to the legs is reduced even without armor and you dont get hit there to much, except sometimes with projectiles. You can get Mail Chausses but I recommend keeping your Ankle Boots until Heavy Infantry. Im wearing Ankle Boots. Two Handed Weapon : Two handers generally have more reach and damage then one handers but sacrifice speed. I don't like using two handers myself because your alot more likely to be hit then when your using a one hander shield combo. If you want to use a two hander I recommend the Shortened Voulge, it does 45c damage and is pretty fast but is about the same length as a one handed weapon though so thats the down side, but that could be a good thing since you wont hit enemies, objects, or teammates that you didnt want to hit by accident because of your long reach. There are one/two hander weapons like the bastard sword and morningstar, when using these you can switch between shield and no shield, no shield making it a two hander and shield making it a one hander. The downside to using one/two handers is that the stats will be reduced when using them in one hand because when you pull out your shield it reduces all of its stats by a third except for the reach. Im using the Shortened Voulge. One Handed Weapon : I highly recommend using these and a shield over two handers because you won't die as much. You should get the weapon that suits you the best, there are axes that usually do more damage then swords but have less reach then a sword, swords have less damage then axes but have more reach. I recommend using the Scimitar it has good reach , damage, and speed. Im using the Scimitar. Shield : Shields are very important to have, what else is gonna stop that arrow flying at you ( other then your body, or in most cases your face ) or those pesky enemies crowding around you. For infantry there are three types of shields, there are Round shields which are the strongest of the shields but don't have much coverage and are a little slower to pull up to block so therefore I don't recommend them. Then there are Kite shields and Heater shields these two have the same coverage but different hit points and resistance stats. Kite shields will usually have more hp ( hit points ) then heater shields but less resistance and Heater shields will have less hp then kite sheilds but more resistance. While heater shields do have more resistance, the majority of nords use axes which ignore armor/resistance ratings so the higher hp shield, ie: the kite shield, would be better in the long run against the nordinvasion. Im using the Plain Heater Shield in the picture but it should be a Plain Kite Shield. Support Slot : I don't recommend you get any support classes until Heavy Infantry or Sergeant. I'll talk about it more on Heavy Infantry. But there is an item you can get that doesn't require you to be a support class, the Deloyable Shield ( called the dep shield by some ), these arereally good for blocking the invading nord's path. I recommend them since they are relatively cheap. Other : If you are wondering in what order you should buy your gear if you dont have enough money to buy it all at one time ( which is usual ) then i'll tell you. First it should be Body Armor, Secondly a Weapon ( one handed or two handed, its your choice ) , Thirdly Head Armor, Fourthly Shield, Fifthly Foot Armor, and Sixthly Gloves. Now you can go in whatever order you want but this is what I recommend. Enemies : Watch out for all enemies! Heavy Infantry Recommended Gear Head Armor : Most of the suggestions I have is on Infantry. I still think you should get the best head protection possible. Since you'll gnerally be more agressive as a Heavy Infantryman you need more protection to get up in there and feel a little more powerful then you were before. You still have to be careful however protect that head. Im wearing the Vaegir Nobleman Helmet. Body Armor : Have you been noticing your body armor getting better yet? Well its not that great still but hey its an improvement. All I can say is wear the best armor you can get, i've been saying that alot . Im wearing the Light Mail and Plate. Hand Armor : Now you might've noticed your leather gloves don't look all that great with your new shiny armor, NO MATTER! As you may have also noticed when you became an Infantryman a new hand armor was added to the marketplace, Mail Mittens, these bad boys add style and better then leather gloves booyah. However they are a tad bit expensive so get them last when you have some money to spare. If you want a more affordable pair of gloves then get mail gauntlets on the AH ( auction hall ). Im wearing the Mail Mittens. Foot Armor : So are you tired of your ankle boots? Have they worn away? Well thats ok because it is a great time to buy a new pair of boots. I recommend the Splinted Greaves. They look great and offer good protection for those chicken legs. However they can be a little bit expensive so get them close to last on your list, since again they are not all that essential. Light Highlander Boots are affordable and good looking but don't protect as well, I like them but they don't protect as well so I recommend the Splinted Greaves. Im using the Splinted Greaves. Two Handed Weapon : I hope that shortened voulge has been serving you well, but I hope you haven't grown to attached. Ladies and Gentlemen may I present the Two Handed Sword! It has a simple look to it but a devastating result when combined with a Swadian Hero. I recommend the use of the Two Handed Sword because of its good reach, speed, and damage. You'll fall instantly in love with it when you use it. The best two hander you can get for a Heavy Infantryman. There is another two hander that I recommend but its costly, its the Strange Sword it is a one/two hander but it is still wonderful for one handed use even better for two handed use and has great reach, speed, and damage.Since its pretty costly I don't think most Heavy Infantrymen can get it so I recommend the Two Handed Sword over it. Im using the Two Handed Sword. One Handed Weapon : If you like that Scimitar there's another waiting for you looking almost exactly the same but with alot better stats. I recommend using the Elite Scimitar because of its spped damage and reach, you can't go wrong slaying nords with it. There is another one hander that I recommend but its costly, its the Strange Sword it is a one/two hander but it is still wonderful for one handed use even better for two handed use and has great reach, speed, and damage. Since its pretty costly I don't think most Heavy Infantrymen can get it so I recommend the Elite Scimitar over it. Im using the Elite Scimitar. Shield : I told you about what the three types of shields are on the infantry suggestion so you know about that already. If you've been liking the Plain Heater Shield, you should get the not so plain heater shield, the Heater Shield. Great coverage, hp, and speed. Im using the Heater Shield. Support Slot : Well I guess you might be able to spare 3000 assist xp by now if you wanted to get rid of your deployable shield ( dep shield some call it ) so i'll talk about this right now. The support slot allows you to carry items that are from your support class. There are two support classes the Tinkerer and Nurse support classes. The nurse is a healer who heals by placing a medic box healing teammates in a small area around you, thereare four levels of a nurse the first level is Nurse as you are a nurse you can place simple medic boxes that heal only a little bit, second tier you are a Field Medic this is when you can get Medic Boxes these heal a good amount of damage, third tier you are a Field Surgeon now you can get a Surgeon's Kit which is placed really fast and heals all damage, fourth tier is Master Surgeon now you can use ressurrection tomes to respawn fallen comrades but only within a 15 second time period. The tinkerer is a builder who builds barricades, explosive barrels, and ammo boxes for his team to keep the nords at bay, he can place an ammo box for archers or crossbowman to refill their projectiles, he can place barricades on the ground then proceed to build them to keep the nords away, he can also place explosive barrels that kill any nord within its range to die...instantly. First tier is Tinkerer which gets you ammo boxes, second tier is Apprentice which gets you Barricades, third tier is Engineer which gets you Heavy Barricades, and fourth tier gets you Explosive Barrels. Other : Can't think of any off subject things to say at this level. Enemies : All enemies can still hurt you, but Peasants, Prisoners, Farmers ( Farm Hands are the ones you need to look out for still ), and Intruders shouldn't be so dangerous. Sergeant Recommended Affordable Gear Recommended Gear For The Big Spenders Head Armor : Hopefully you've realized the importance of head armor by now . Get the best looking, best protecting helmet you can find. The ones on the marketplace are the best you can get at Sergeant and are affordable ( hopefully ). If you are a big spender then you should get the Grinder Helmet, it looks amazing ( in my opinion ) and is the best head armor you can get for a Sergeant. Affordable gear im using the Helmet with Neckguard, and in the big spender budget im using the Grinder Helmet. Body Armor : Well now you are getting to be a tough guy ( don't get carried away though when in a crowd of enemies ). The marketplace as always has affordable armor and usually is pretty good. Get what you like but I think for some reason there is a Sarrandid Mail Shirt on the marketplace that in my opinion looks cool but its stats are really bad for some reason and cost as much as the best marketplace armors for sergeant, also the Sarrandid Guard Armor cost twice as much but has the same stats, so watch out for that. For the guys or girls with the big bucks, I wouldn't say jump for Banded Mail Armor, I would say sprint and then jump to get it. This armor is the best you can get for a sergeant. Affordable gear im using the Mail with Surcoat and in the big spender budget im using Banded Mail Armor. Hand Armor : Well if you were hoping for some more hand armor on the marketplace you must be saddened. So you'll have to keep your mail mittens but those look good with your armor. You can buy Black Wisby Gauntlets or Red Wisby Gauntlets from the AH if you have some money to spare ( I put these in the big spender budget because if it being sort of costly ). They have good protection so I would get them. Affordable gear im using Mail Mittens and in the big spender budget im using Black Wisby Gauntlets. Foot Armor : If you hate taking arrows to the.........foot then you will love the extra protection of a full TWO points if you get the Mail Boots. Its always good to get better armor for every part of you body when you can because... you never know. The mail boots are the only foot armor available at Sergeant, however when I was a sergeant I used Light Highlander Boots because I like the way they looked. Im using the Mail Boots in both budgets. Two Handed Weapon : Now since your a sergeant you can start having fun in melee, well more fun. There are some great nand fun to use weapons on the marketplace that are affordable, like the Great Hammer thats a fun one but not to practical. I recommend getting the Morningstar, it is a one/two handed weapon, but it does piercing damage which is a plus to the weapon. Its a great two hander but it is also a great one hander. It can crush through blocks ( overhead attacks tend to crush through more ). So if you choose this you don't really need a one hander if you don't want one, beware its a little on the the slow side one handed. If you want a purely two handed weapon with lots of damage, speed, and reach I recommend the War Cleaver. It gets the job done I used it for a long time since I didn't like the small reach of the morningstar. Now if you have a big budget I recommend the Strange Great Sword, it has great reach, super fast speed ( like a one handed weapon ), and its great damage. Affordable gear im using the Morningstar and War Cleaver, and in the big spender budget im using the Strange Great Sword. One Handed Weapon : Well there are some good new one handed weapons on the marketplace, but one stands out... the Morningstar. I talked about it in the two handed section above so I hope you read more about it up there. Now what I really recommend is the Steel Sword it is one of the best one handers that you can get ( ONE of the best not neccessarily the best ). I put the steel sword in both budgets because I think now a days its fairly cheap, I remember when it was worth 20-25k back in the day , unless im mistaken and it is still that much. I highly recommend the steel sword you will not regret it. There is another sword the Grosse Messer it has a small reach but does two points more damage then the steel sword and is faster, I don't really recommend it. Im using the Steel Sword in both budgets. Shields : Well you only have two choices of shields this time around and its the Knightly Kite Shield and the Knightly Heater Shield. I suggest gettin the Knightly Kite Shield since it has more hp then the heater shield, and it wont get destroyed as fast against axes and such, based on Wolfblood's information ( thanks for that btw ). However if you have a big budget then you should get the Swadian Kite Shield it has 1000 hp but has 2 points less resistance as the Knighyly Kite Shield it is still way better though. In affordable gear im using the Knightly Kite Shield and in the big spender im using the Swadian Kite Shield. Support Slot : If you haven't chosen a support class yet now would be a good time to do so. I talked a good deal about the support class on Heavy Infantry. Other : As a sergeant you are stronger but you can still die easily. I see alot of sergeants trying to rambo and most of the time they die so stay with your teammates, even when you are a Commando ( but thats a little off subject on the Sergeant section ). Enemies : You should generally watch out for militia men the guys with wooden swords, Trappers, Berserkers, Brutes ( not so scary ), and Skirmishers upwards. Commando Recommended Gear Head Armor : The marketplace armor is the best of the best ( besides the grinder helmet and the fearsome knight helm ) and they are all the same price so buy what you think looks best. I recommend the Vaegir War Mask since it looks cool and mr. swag uses it ( clickeverywhere ). The grinder helm is still the second best head armor in the game so thats not a bad choice. Im using the Vaegir War Mask. Body Armor : They all are the same on the marketplace so get one that you like. I recommend the Vaegir Elite Armor since its cooool. You can get the Striped Armor which is really good but expensive I recommend it. There is transitional but that is very expensive. Im using the Vaegir Elite Armor. Hand Armor : There still isn't any new hand armor on the marketplace. So head on over to the AH and get some Ornate or normal Hourglass Gauntlets. They're the best han armor on the website so I recommend them. Or you can keep your mail mittens if you like the way they look. Im using Mail Mittens. Foot Armor : Well now you have access to the Iron Greaves and Plate Boots. I recommend the plate boots since they go better with most armor. There are Highlander Boots you can buy from the marketplace that are ( as of now ) the best foot armor on the website, but they only look good with transitional ( sorta ) and heavy highlander armor ( which looks good but is not very protective ). Im using the Plate Boots. Two Handed Weapon : There are a few new two handers on the marketplace but I recommend either the Great Axe or Great Sword. The great axe does more damage but is shorter and slower. So I recommend the Great Sword. Im not using any two handers in the picture. One Handed Weapon : There are not any new one handers for a Commando, except for an array of legendaries. I recommend the Steel Sword it is still one of the best one handers even at Commando, or you can get the Steel Cutter but thats expensive to. I recommend the Steel Sword the most. Im using the Steel Sword. Shield : Well your a commando now and that means you have the best shields in the game now. Marketplace shields are the best shields so buy those. They all have the same stats, except for the Elite Cavalry Shield and the Heavy Round Shield those two don't have as much coverage so I don't recommend them. I recommend either the Heavy Heater Shield or the Heavy Kite Shield. I like the heater shield better because of its looks. Im using the Heavy Heater Shield. Support Slot : If you don't have one by now definatley get one. I talked about the classes on Heavy Infantry. Other : If you are in a shield wall as a commando and your shielding, don't swing. Also don't try to retreat if you die oh well there is always a respawn ( unless your team tells you to retreat then retreat ). Work ith your team don't rambo unless your alone or they don't mind. Enemies : Only watch out for enemies with wooden swords ( basically blunt weapons ) or piercing like pikemen or anyone with a spear. Watch out for most enemies from Zweis or Troopers up.
