Great fix for VHTA - Harith - 25-08-2014

Hey!

I've decided to make fixes for VHTA

I think name should be changed, because VHTA is too casual for weapon like that Wink

Yea the texture change seems fine by my account, my only possible critique being that the wood seems a tad too glossy, or reflective. The last two changes do what exactly? I'm assuming the last is for a wooden parry sound effect.

Get the files to me sometime, though that being said, I'm STILL waiting on you to send me the assassins armor rework aswell.

As for the name..? I'm sorry but its just far too complicated, you have to take into account the majority of the player base is english, or at least speaks it as a common language. The new suggested name, whilst fancy and with a history behind it, is just too complicated to have to write down on the forums all the time.

Makes shiny parts shiny, which it didn't before.

*changed carry flag from sword_back (two handed sword) to none (throwing axes)
When VHTA were in melee mode, you'd draw them like a two handed sword. This changes that to the standard throwing axes drawing (would personally go for carry_axe_left_hip).

*added wooden_parry flag
Makes it sound like you're blocking with something wooden instead of a sword.

I was waiting to finish these fixes to make download link to my new brf file with all my models (Assassin's Armor and axe included)

I understand, but name Very Heavy Throwing Axes doesn't sound good for me. Twigs of Yggdrasil, Jörmungandr thats what I was basing at.

Wouldn't an easier but similarly mythological name be something like Alfheim Axes? A bit easier to understand than Svartalfar or Svartalfheim.

I've tried but you have about 25 axes in one slot, so when it's attached to left hip it looks strange. I was thinking about making bag for axes, which would be on your back. So, maybe in future...

Still better than VHTA so I like it Tongue but Álfheim is where elves not dwarves live

The only one i was not 100% about, but guessed right anyway. I'm not really sure about changing the animation tbh, there can be arguments for both keeping the throwing axes on the "back" like every other throwing weapon, but if you have no animation, will that mean instantaneous switching?

I was thinking about making bag for axes, which would be on your back. So, maybe in future...
that being said if you go ahead and have some sort of holder for them then the back-draw animation would make sense.

Though it's not my place to make the final decision i would be against changing the name of the item. It's not something that is done often, or at all really, to our items. the term VHTA has already been coined on the forums and is a recognizable name our community understands. It would be a shame to try and fix something that isn't even broken.

No, it won't. Go on native and try one of these normal throwing axes. Animation will be the same.

If you don't flag a drawing animation, it automatically uses the second animation seen in this gif:
