Try Steelseries Siberia V2 or V3. Not the absolute best for gaming, but the main thing about them is that they have very good audio quality, they're very comfortable, and they're cheap.
Useful if you also want to listen to music.

Oh and they also have retractable microphones with good quality.
If you're looking for more expensive headsets, V3 Prism or Elite Prism seems pretty good.
I use Siberia V2 in combination with an ASUS Xonar DX audio card, and I love it.

It has good quality sound and microphone. Also got a program that allows you to edit the
sound and give a bass boost for better experience with listening music.

I got myself the wireless version,the G930(http://gaming.logitech.com/nl-nl/product/g930-7-1-wireless-gaming-headset).
Nice quality,good sounds/mic,also comes with some program from logitech that allows you to "program" the 3 G-Keys and use logitechs voice-morph-thingy.
9.5/10 overall,would buy again.

Recently got the ASTRO A30 Headset + MIXAMP PRO and I am very happy with it. Using it only in USB mode right now but I am already an happy customer. My new computer will have S/PDIF in so this should improve the sound quality even more.
