I often see it happen with arrows and spears in my shield, but not like that. Do you have the latest version?

Then I would not know what is happening. You should wait for someone with more experience to respond or go to teamspeak or irc and try to contact a dev.

Its not a big issue. Sometimes when ranged weapons hit a shield they change color to white. If it bothers you just simply drop your shield and pick it back up. And also, I've had this happen in native mode. So it is something with Warband not NI.
