Other details:
Seems to be an issue for non-windows users.
Pictures do no tell how bad it is. I repeatedly fall through the map which cancels actions I try to do. This is the favourite location to camp for people which makes it an unplayable map.

Have you tried to reinstall that map ?
Delete it from your NordInvasion SceneObj folder and then go to downloadable scenes & codes at \Documents\Mount&Blade Warband\SceneObj and delete scn_ni_yalen_retreat.sco and txt file. Don't know if that location is same for your OS.
Then run the updater to get map back.

EDIT:
I found the folder also under the NordInvasion mod folder. Map was there and I removed it. just need to load into a map to re-download

Did you run the NordInvasion auto updater?
If the auto updater does not work and you are using Steam, try right-clicking Warband in the Steam Library and clicking Properties.
On the Local tab, Verify Integrity of Local Game Cache.

Can't run auto updater as that is a windows executable.
I'm playing on Kubuntu 14.04 LTS and my copy of Mount and play is from Good Old Games(http://www.gog.com/game/mount_blade_warband) so no steam.
Sorry I understand this is not the main/idea/preferred setup but this is my system. I'm open to try anything less you may suggest.
