i installed 1.1.8 and even connected to an AU server but when i try other servers it keeps on kicking me

yes. Because 1.1.9 just came out with a bunch of bug fixes.

Speaking of which, the AU server is now up to date (1.1.9). There were some connection issues which prevented it from being updated sooner.
