Not sure if this is suggested before or there is already a fix, but at the moment it seems cavalry takes rougly 6 x longer to get than infantry on the initial game start. My suggestion to close the gap is on every map have a few pony's at team spawn for people to start racking up mounted exp.

Small ponies can now be bough on the regular marketplace by recruits for 1200 gold and the trained ponies have had their crafting requirements lowered to that of the small pony. This will hopefully make it a bit easier for newer players to get into cavalry.
Edit: The required exp for Cavalry and Mounted Soldier has also been lessened a bit.

Good to hear, some of my friends were disheartened by the difficulty of cav in comparison to infantry. (thanks for fast reply)
