@Ryu awesome, much love. I have some knowledge about Runes and plenty of books about them so I'll get back to you with that tomorrow. If it's hard to fit the text in you could also use the O and G runes, or combine them symbolically.
On a few depictions he has indeed a horned helmet (ignore modern drawings plz). That would look way too dorky with Warband though, and it would be more epic to complete the wanderer look. Just my opinion though.

thats because its over 400 length, so the details a bit small in that picture, its 2k polys.

Especially like the throwing spear idea, tho I think he should just have 1.

The runes you probably want to use are called futhark http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Younger_Futhark, old Norse runes.
You might also consider using the valknut http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valknut which is used as a symbol related to Odin.

As i told before, i like the long branch, it seems its included as Younger Futhark and fits the runes we need
.I can also use Valknut on the spear tip, thanks Worm.
Spear is about to be finished as a mesh(both lowpoly and highpoly), it takes a bit longer than i expected since i decided to make a high poly mesh for details. It will be ready soon i hope.
