I do think anything but 10,000 gold would be clearly OP. Everyone being archers would be kinda lame, or it'd take forever to do the quest.

Would it be so terribly unreasonable to make the reward 100,000 gold instead of 10,000 gold?
I'm pretty sure the Swadian economy wouldn't collapse, and everyone laughing about the pitiful current reward would be satisfied. :

Like I said, archers would be too rich. Quests aren't there to make you legendaries. They're there just to make a few little coins. Honestly, 100k would be unfair to shielders and slashers, and a random legendary would be just plain stupid.
