This is only my suggestion for what to use at each progression tier, you can of course mix it up if you are low on funds or want to try out using different weapons.

My basic suggestion is to use the best items at each tier to max out the chances of surviving and getting kills.

The load-out I use:

Weapon Slot 1: Bow (this is where your best bow goes)
Weapon Slot 2: Arrows
Weapon Slot 3: Arrows
Support Slot: Deployable Shield/ Barricade/ Healing packs
Head Armour Slot: Wear the best head armour possible, the most damage to an archer comes from a enemy ranger aiming at your head.
Hand Armour Slot: Again wear the best hand armour possible it totals up with your body armour, so don't forget your mittens!
Foot Armour Slot: Try and wear reasonable foot armour for your progression, then once you reach max buy the best foot armour possible.

There is some debate over whether or not to bring a combat weapon, and replace one of the arrow quivers. The problem with this is that when in a group two packs of quivers is much more important then a weapon.
You can also remember that usually people drop weapons when they spawn, which will almost always be much better then any of the weapons you can bring in.
