Welcome to the archery progression thread, this is the most in depth list of items that an archer can use anywhere on the forums.
How does this thread work?
I noticed a distinct lack of information about the archer class, and thought it would be helpful to compile all of the information into one thread.
The information used is gathered from the Marketplace and items I own as a sniper, this means that it is 100% accurate. As updates occur I will update the thread with the changes.
Each item has been assigned to it's lowest progression, this means that every progression above will be able to use that item. I did not want to make the thread confusing by adding a tonne of 'Usable by' everywhere as this would clutter up the design.

Always look on the AuctionHall for people selling bows, arrows ect as they will almost always be at a reduced price. This can be useful if you are a little low on funds, and want to try and upgrade some of your items.

This is only my suggestion for what to use at each progression tier, you can of course mix it up if you are low on funds or want to try out using different weapons.
My basic suggestion is to use the best items at each tier to max out the chances of surviving and getting kills.
The load-out I use:
Weapon Slot 1: Bow (this is where your best bow goes)
Weapon Slot 2: Arrows
Weapon Slot 3: Arrows
Support Slot: Deployable Shield/ Barricade/ Healing packs
Head Armour Slot: Wear the best head armour possible, the most damage to an archer comes from a enemy ranger aiming at your head.
Hand Armour Slot: Again wear the best hand armour possible it totals up with your body armour, so don't forget your mittens!
Foot Armour Slot: Try and wear reasonable foot armour for your progression, then once you reach max buy the best foot armour possible.
There is some debate over whether or not to bring a combat weapon, and replace one of the arrow quivers. The problem with this is that when in a group two packs of quivers is much more important then a weapon.
You can also remember that usually people drop weapons when they spawn, which will almost always be much better then any of the weapons you can bring in.

Archer:
Because you are starting out you should have enough money to buy a Nomad bow and sharp arrows, the nomad bow has a good speed rating and will be useful on the battlefield. Try and make sure that you always have at least 1 full quiver at the end of each round, this will make sure that you can support the team with your long range damage.
Progressing from archer to longbowman should be quite quick if you stay back and shoot from within the team.
I would suggest buying:
Helmet Slot: Leather Cap
Body Slot: Leather Jerkin
Hand Slot: Mail Mittens
Foot Slot: Leather Boots

Now you have an understanding of archery and have succesfully progressed to a longbowman, definitely use a Khergit bow and sharp barbed arrows.
The khergit bow is a really good bow with a high speed rating, this can provide a good amount of cover for your teammates. And can get you out of sticky situations with its high speed rating.

Congratulations on getting this far! You can now go into hard mode. This will mean you will need to survive for the later waves, so because of this try and buy some hefty armour that provides a lot of protection.
I would suggest carry on using the long bow, after the buff this is now the bow to use for the wide open maps where distance may have to be a deciding factor.
Use khergit arrows as your main set of arrows as this will allow you to survive and maintain the hectic pace of hardmode without having to constantly restock.
I would Suggest buying:
Helmet Slot: Vaegir Helmet
Body Slot: Khergit Lamellar Vest
Foot Slot: Splinted Greaves
Weapon Slot: Khergit Bow
Arrows: Khergit arrows
