I would like to know the stats of both and their weight please. Capacity wise it doens't matter to me.

The stats are accurate (according to the items_kind1.txt - the file with the items stats).
My housemate who crafted the Heavy Pilum says that the drop is much more than for Pilum, which he dislikes.
If I'm not mistaken, the important difference is that Heavy Pilum is Legio locked.

A bit wrong here, Heavy Pilum has 58p

Regular pilum has 56 damage (Since 1.5.x patch) and the in game weight is 3.
The in flight drop from heavy pilum is a bit more indeed but for me the main drawback is that it's Legio locked.
