Agreed, the HWH is one of the few craftables really good for killing the bloody horse.

As stated before, the heavy war hammer is good. In fact, it's better than most legendary melee weapons (excluding Mjolnir) for killing the horse as it does blunt damage (or was it pierce?) . I'm pretty sure Banks made a spreadsheet on this before, and this was the conclusion reached.
