because the cav mode got an overhaul some time (years?) ago.there were trained ponies, which could be crafted by alchemist. easy way for new players to get into cavalry without first grinding 25k mounted xp. Nowadays the only ponies you can ride are the nordish ones stolen from either W1 or W2 onwards

Thats what I was asking as well

Because the Cav Mode obviously was changed and left in an unfinished state. Why else would there be no beginner horses or incomplete or broken cavalry quests. E.g. "The Butcher Work" has the Troop Nord Herder to kill which was once in the cav mode but vanished since the Overhaul.
Just the fact that there are 2 Quests for Cav and way more for any other game mode should make this Obvious enough as it is

Its always been a waste of money. 

Pay just as much as the horse (175k) for the armour to get different stats. OK, that makes sense from a game perspective pay for... What it does stats wise from my point of view is worse than the horse, to begin with.
