Rather than grinding kills, how about a quest where you have to smash a certain number of shields? Not sure if this is recordable but thought I would ask anyway :-\
Give a man a fish, and you have fed him for a day. Teach him how to fish, and he will continue fishing even if you give him a fish.

I'm not sure whether this it is actually recorded by the game so it probably wouldn't be possible.
May be a way though, I'm no expert.
