Can't start the game

I just updated NI to 1.0.1. When I start Warband it shows the "Taleworlds Entertainment" "video" and then I get the following:

Generic application error. Enable debug output for detailed information.
Switching to the reference rasterizer, a software device that implements the entire Direct3D feature set, but runs very slowly.

After clicking "OK" the following appears:

Warning: Nothing will be rendered.
The reference rendering device was selected, but your computer only has a reduced-functionality reference device installed. Install the DirectX SDK to get the full reference device.

So I googled "DirectX SDK" and downloaded this: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download...px?id=6812

I started the setup but it was unable to install saying :

Setup failed.
Errors were encountered during installation of redistributable packages.
Please close all open programms and try running setup again.
If Problem persists, contact DirectX Developer support.

Error code: S1023

So I closed all programs and tried again but received the same error. I looked up the Error Code and it said that it occurs if there's already a newer version installed.

Can anyone help me with this?


EDIT: I get it with EVERY module, not only NI.

EDIt 2: I restarted my PC. Now it works without a problem.

That kind of error seems to be usually generated if the video card driver doesn't meet the requirements of the game. I searched the net a bit and found that ppl had the same problem if:
1. they were using the default windows VGA diver (means they had no dedicated graphic card driver installed at all)
2. they had GeForce GPU with newly updated drivers and the error was caused by the new version of driver (some bug from NVidia it seems):

3. they've upgrade their windows version recently to find out there is no driver available for the GPU and the new Widows version... But that is really rare I think (must be very old GPU and not from AMD).
4. they had no DX installed, but that should not be your problem, if I remember correctly Warband checks for DX when installing, should it be missing it should have been installed with the game.

Another thing to try if you are running Steam would be to verify the integrity of your local game files (in the properties dialog of the Steam Library entry).

Good to see you got it fixed with a reboot, though.
