So, the vast majority of us have played in Napoleonic wars organized-line battles, and been in regiments. After looking up some videos, I discovered a surprisingly little known thing- native line battles. After watching the battle, I concluded that it looked like a massive amount of fun. It combined the teamwork of a NW line regiment, with the superior gameplay of native-mode.
I used to think competitive native was just tournaments of 1v1 duels, or small groups fighting organized skirmishes. To my surprise, native line battles can feature battles of up to 150+ players, so the competitive native scene in that regard certainly isn't dead in the least.
They work basically just like NW line battles, where groups of 20-30 players (regiments) move around as single units on the battlefield, and each team consists of multiple regiments. Unlike NW line battles, I was surprised to learn that in native line battles, each team has an overall commander, which provides for far more interesting battles, instead of every regiment doing its own thing, like in NW. If you look up a few native line battles, you'll see regiments coordinate with each other to outflank an enemy position, and using the terrain to their advance. Shieldwalls will stand firm as small groups of archers or crossbowman fire from behind the shieldwall at enemy regiments. Regiments of mounted swadian knights, just like in the single-player campaign, are imfamous for the sheer amount of damage they can do in a charge.

I just had a awesome daydream where all of nordinvasion formed one massive regiment of like 40 players, and then we show up to one of these native line battles en force. Of course, we'd always play as Swadia. Ideally, we'd be a mixed ranged and infantry regiment. 8)
Or for some amazing tactical flexibility, we form two separate regiments of like 20 people each, and we have one commander directly both of them in coordination. Also, unlike lame NW regiments, we wouldn't have any stupid ranks, or weekly trainings.
This seems to be the most popular line battle event at the moment: http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php?topic=271973.0
