Well, if a damage that "pass" a shield resistance is actually doubled for axes, throwing weapon and bolts then it is even more important to have it as high as possible while facing those kinds of nords.

That depends on whether the multiplier is before or after the resistance reduction, I was under the impression it would work like a speed modifier so before resistance

Guys the aegis is better. 47resistance and 1350 hp.

Hmm, the aegis is the same materials as the resilience. I did not know that. The only problem with going that route is I think I prefer the look of the resilience over the aegis. Oh the choices. Ultimately though, I think any of the high tier shields will perform fine.

I actually thought the shield skill increased the shield health by 8%, not decrease damage taken by 8%. Can anyone confirm/deny which one is correct?

It reduces damage to shields according to the single player description of the skill. Also increases shield coverage and shield speed.

Yep.
Damage reduction from shield skill does not influence whether or not some projectiles pierce shields though, only shield resistance helps.

Or you could just grab a shield that looks good and repair it when it's damaged
