Legendaries and the average green drop.
#51
For some reference. This is everything I looted from level 1-52 on an alternate character that I created in 0.5.0. I do not know the exact playing time, and this is going quite deep on every run I was on. Also be aware that this is playing with some of the best teams out there and with the best gear available. So the waves that were reached are not a true representation of how an average new player would fair.

*I have another from 1-42 with much less created at the same time.

I'll go ahead and post my loot from yesterday.  Since I did two Hard runs and only one Ragnarok run, though, I'll go ahead and add my loot from the Ragnarok run the night before so comparison is easier.  Please note that these are only the high-tier green materials.  I did not include Coal, but I can remember that I get much more of that in Ragnarok than Hard.  I can add more loot reports in the future either here or through PM, if anyone would like this information.

Ragnarok 1:
1 x Sulphur
1 x Zinc Shard

Hard 1:
1 x Bronze Arrowhead
1 x Water of Hvergelmir

Ragnarok 2:
1 x Sulphur

Hard 2:
1 x Bear Fur
1 x Water of Hvergelmir
1 x Wood of Glasir
1 x Small Lump of Lead

Sooo, at least Ragnarok is good for Sulphur Big Grin

Now for legendary thingies.  I have played this game for over 2000 hours (I think I am nearing 2500 now if I include the time I spent in Native) and have found 4 legendary items, a Thunder Pike, Pike of Kings, Studded Gauntlets, and lastly a Sun Pike (yes, the game wants me to be a pikeman).  That is one drop roughly every 500 hours spent (oddly enough, those are about the times I got them as well, give or take ten or twenty hours).  This is both a lot of kiting time, in which I got a lot of green drops and zero legendary ones, and through team play, in which I'd typically get very far, either wave 16 or 20 in most cases.  I suppose a good portion of that was spent leveling up a new character.

As far as what I have already seen in the thread, I agree with both Harlaus and Maroon, and I support both of their solutions.  An amendment I would like to make to Maroon's idea, though, would be to make most of the green drops easier to get and more required in crafting, but keep some of the more expensive or rare ones the same so that there is a mix of medium, high, and very high tier materials.

Aye, a good idea, haven't thought of that. Maybe keep some mats like Zinc Shards or Bronze Arrowheads (which aren't used as much as waters or lumps) at the droprate they are at now, to keep those extra rare.
I was never here, you saw nothing...

That's totally not average though. And Winter, you've one of the Midas' Touch players, that seem to gets a lots of decent drop. Over the last 8-9 months, which involved many runs to bosses and many more to level 18/19, I've gotten like 1 lump and 2 waters (not counting boots and a some HM/HC). And going on 1.5 years without a legendary.

In the last two Ragnarok runs I've made, I've gotten one lump and three coal. In the last five Ragnarok runs I've made, I've gotten one lump and three coal.

I'm starting to get excited whenever I get heavy cloth and hardened metal. Is that the way we're supposed to feel? That some of the most basic black drops are special?

I get more HM and HC from kiting for crying out loud. And that's with a royal guard with trans, a tourney fang, and a royal shield loaned from a clan-mate. If I were still leveling up and had no house mates to play with, I would have quit the mod by now.

Well everyone knows you're the luckiest player in NI lol.

No way in hell will I ever get the same amount of mats in a run as you did Tongue Let alone that amount of legendaries.

On a side note, I dont support the x mats by 5 thing, if that were the case you would need 1000 lumps for some things... and I will not see that happening.

Lol heres my items from 1 run of normal-
31 x Old Boots
29 x Crooked Stick
1 x Basic Wood
15 x Bent Sword
1 x Bone Shard
1 x Coal
2 x Twisted String
1 x Heavy Cloth
2 x Hardened Metal
I got about 15k worth of items for 2 hours-3 hours of gameplay. I really think the grinding involved for NI is getting to a game breaking point.
I have played since January and I have got-1 Sulphur, 2 Scales, 5 Lumps. Not really that good considering since Im at 1000hours in NI.
