This happens on all items which you spend Assist XP on. Gold, Melee, Ranged, Mounted. It gives you the correct amount of the scaled item but tells you that you have the full amount.
IE spend 10 Assist XP in Melee. It gives you 5 Melee XP and Tells you that you have received 10 melee XP.
