so for 50 armour

It will reduce damage by 40, and 50% of what gets through will be ignored for cut.

It will reduce damage by 32.5, and 25% of what gets through will be ignored for pierce.

So there is ~19% difference is straight reduction, and 50% difference in resistance.

Dragon axe is 52 cut, Pick is 46 pierce thats ~12% less than the dragon.
