Hello Sir.
Any maps are a lost of time. In first you have to learn how to use the mount and blade warband edition mode/ editing tools. It's not easy but quite interesting. In your case, I don't think you could make a good "first map" for NordInvasion. This mod requiere a lot of things that mostly people ignore.
Find good proportions, think and make a good map isn't easy at all.
First of all, try to imagine the map with a first idea. Complete it with some adjustments.
For example, NI team avoid kittable maps because they want more difficulties and teamplay.
Start making maps it's a very good idea! I hope you will try to make more maps!
Regards,
Alpha.

In my opinion, you should try and redo the map as a whole [i mean the surrounding mountains, use the smooth out tool on them and don't make them so steep because the texture get's stretched out], also i suggest trying to keep it realistic and not just thrown together randomly, such as those 2 oddly placed ballista and the random walls stuck into the mountain. Anyway, you should just keep practicing and you'll get better and better with the tool.
Let me suggest you some guides that will help alot with scene making.
Napol. Wars Scene Guide, It isn't NI but it will still give you the overall overview of the controls and etc. I used this guide when i was messing around on NW

Anouther Guide i used for when i was new

Also when your done with the map, remember to add necessary barriers around to keep players and bots alike from climbing up the mountains/etc., as well as to add in an ai mesh so bots don't stand there and be useless.
