This issue is common among AU players on NA/EU Servers. We had all chalked it up to high ping.

Well I do think it's got something to do with latency as it is common for Au players to get it like you said however I don't get it much any more so maybe its got more facters behind it.

I'm not sure if it's possible but could be having to low fps or just having a out dated lan connection? Idk it stopped happing as much when I upgraded my gpu/motherboard.

I don‘t think it has something to do with the Hardware, my PC is really good and was really expensive and I have higher FPS in 4k than the most in Full HD.
But the ping / latency could really be the reason because my internet was awful at this day and I got some random disconnects also.
