Hello dear NI friends,
I would like to warmly invite you all to join a small community project: the Advent calendar 2024.
The goal is to revive our community spirit a little. And what better way to do that than through giving and receiving!

After all, as the saying goes:
“We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.”

So let us, as a small but enduring community, use this heartfelt advent season to create something together and grow closer once again.

For those of you who don't know what is an advent calendar about:
An "Advent calendar" is a special nordic / christian tradition that helps people count down the days leading up to Christmas, starting on December 1st and ending on December 24th. The calendar usually has 24 small doors or windows, each hiding a surprise, such as a piece of chocolate or an inspirational message. This simple act of opening a new door each day is meant to bring excitement, joy, and a sense of anticipation for the holiday.

The deeper meaning behind an Advent calendar is to teach values such as patience, kindness, and generosity. It encourages us to reflect on the spirit of giving, as it’s a time to appreciate the little moments and share joy with others. Many people use this time to spend quality moments with their family, friends, and communities, strengthening bonds and creating memories.
This tradition also connects us to the larger message of Christmas: the importance of helping those in need. It’s about spreading love and offering support to others. By donating to this cause, you’re helping bring hope and happiness to those who might not have much to celebrate this season. Your contribution can directly impact others, making their holiday season brighter and more joyful. Each day (at 00:00 CET), a virtual door will open. Behind each door, you'll find:

A beautiful quote to reflect on
A daily traditional fairy tale from all parts of our world to read, think about and remember

A time limited quest / challenge to get bonus points (look below for more information)

It will look something like this:

How do I participate in the giveaway?

In the calendar, there will be a link to a StrawPoll. There, you enter your forum name.
Your name will then be manually added by me to a prize wheel.
The winner will be announced the following day. I’ll make the process as transparent as possible, probably by uploading a small video.
The winner(s) will receive a message from me on the forum. The prize must be claimed within 5 days of the message being sent

How many giveaways will there be?

At least 24, maybe more. That depends on your motivation doing quests

Quest system - explained

Behind each door of the Advent calendar for weekdays (Monday-Friday), you'll find a "Daily Quest" at the bottom. For the weekend doors (Saturday and Sunday), there's a "Weekend Challenge." On December 1st, the first door contains a special "Monthly Challenge."

These quests are typically time-limited: 24 hours for weekdays and 48 hours for weekends. The "Monthly Challenge" runs throughout the entire event.

Completing these quests rewards you with "Bonus Points."The number of "Bonus Points" you can earn varies from quest to quest. Generally, completing a Daily Quest will give you 1 Bonus Point, while a Weekend Challenge is worth 3 Bonus Points.

Some quests are competitive, where only the first 1-3 participants to complete them receive the points. Others require teamwork, emphasizing collaboration with other players. Some are open to everyone, allowing anyone who participates to earn points. There are even creative tasks that let you showcase your imagination. In short, there’s something for everyone! These "Bonus Points" accumulate throughout the event. A leaderboard will be shared in this post at the end, updated daily, so you can track who has earned the most points yet.
Here’s the breakdown of maximum points available:
1 Monthly Challenge: up to 2 Bonus Points, 10 Daily Quests: up to 10 Bonus Points, 3 Weekend Challenges: up to 9 Bonus Points.
All the quests are part of the NordInvasion Universe, so there’s no need to worry about religious or Christmas-related themes. Everyone is welcome to participate and compete for rewards!

The player who has the most Bonus Points by the end of the event on December 23rd will win a legendary weapon. Additionally, the winners of each Weekend Challenge will also receive rewards, including legendary weapons.

Let the challenges begin, and may the best adventurer win!

What can I win?

That’s the best part of the whole event. The prize depends on you and your contributions.

You don’t need to donate to participate. However, the more contributions we receive, the more everyone benefits, and the higher the motivation for all participants. The largest contributors will be named in the credits at the end of the event.

When does it start?

As you may have noticed, Advent has already begun, so we’ll need to catch up a little.
Donations and preparations will run until Thursday, December 5, 2024, at 20:00 CET.
The link will be published here in the thread — just in time for St. Nicholas Day — where the first 6 doors will already be open. Among these, there will be a special weekend challenge the upcoming day. The first giveaway winners will be announced on Saturday, December 7, 2024.

I just found out that not everybody knows what's an advent calender about. Here is the wikipedia article for you:

Basically you are going to open a virtual door every 24 hours. There you will find an image + text. The text contain a nice quote, a giveaway link and a quest for bonus stuff.

Alright guys. My imagination and creativity was running wild in the last 5 hours. I just finished thinking about the bonus challenges you will get every day.

With every opened virtual door you will find something new and exciting to think about.

From the 6th December until 22nd December there will be a quest for every weekday and a bigger challenge for every weekend.
That means we get 11x daily quests and 3x weekend quests.
For some of the quests / challenges you need some other players, but you can do most of them on your own. Some ingame, some around the game. Every quest has something do with NordInvasion.
Most of the daily quests have a time limit around 24h. For some quests, you have to be the fastest, for others you need some logical thinking and for another quest you have to use your own creativity.
Most of the quests can be won by one person, some quests can be won by up to 3 people.

The player who won the most bonus quests until 22.12 will get a legendary weapon / armor at 23.12.
