Hi all first off this is NOT a thread intended in anyway to indicate developers intent, this is just purely MY curiosity as NI player. There is to be no flaming others for their opinions discussion as to why you agree or disagree with this is fine as long as it is within acceptable limits anyone toeing the lines post will be deleted if need be. If you comment please add more than just "yes" or "no" provide justification for your reasoning
Now we have all the niceities out of the way as the title states I am genuinely curious on what the general players opinion is on if they would be in favour of resetting all players items back to redshirts. (Again this is
NOT happening this post is just to for curiosity sake) Or if they would be against it, feel free to civilly discuss this topic but again as mentioned above anyone who oversteps the mark will have their posts deleted if need be. Please be as constructive as possible.
Regards,

About 3 or 4 times from memory people have organised houses where you join with a new ID and you start again and cant trade items to that ID. Effectively getting what you asking for a new beginning.
They have never lasted more then 3-6 mouths or so?
Apart from it being a decision some people may regret as it really hasn't actually changed the problems inherently to end game. People will just be back to where they were in time. My general concern is for the people that are not active. I just happened to see this post for example. If it was truly a public vote you have a massive number of not active people that may feel sentimental about their gear, but do not play (me for example)

Yes, but only with a drop rate rework.
The current system is defnitely in favor of those that already have a load of items. Instead of reselling "cheap" legendaries like orange legendaries or red items that arent as popular, people distil them which causes absurd prices and makes people not even able to obtain them (especially those that dont get many drops or none at all) This is just my theory i might be wrong about it. Now this system would be okayish, but given how many legendaries are just laying around in peoples inventory just for them to be distelled, makes it not fair for everyone. What i think is needed for this crafting system to work, is either readjusting the entire loot system with a database wipe and higher droprates depending on the quality, for example orange legendaries should be way more common than any red legendaries, all hero-class locked second rarest and hero specific locked items like ailadrodd , sok, zephyr should be extremely rare, as those are the strongest weapons (maybe they could all also get a slight buff for the sake of extreme rarity)
The other option is reworking the crafting system. now first at all, i think its rather unlogical that we even can distill any legendary, it doesnt really make sesne and i think it broke the economy, but if the community wants to keep this system, what we could do is consider craftable legendaries. first at all i think orange legendaries shouldnt be able to be distilled as theyre are always meant to be entry level legendaries that would excite new commers to keep playing and get decent gear. (atleast thats what i see them as) the current issue i see is the distilling of legendaries so people can upgrade their own gear. this causes higher demand for legendaries that they dont even want and make the prices way too high, especially for those that actually want to use that legendary. to revert this, we could consider adding craftable legendaries, at the same costs as distilling them, for example ailadrodd distillling gives 6 essence and crafting it should be the same again. the only downside i see with that is player trading, im pretty sure this would just result in players distilling and crafting what they want, maybe the crafting cost could be higher to encourage players to trade with eachother? i also saw that each legendaries kinda has its own amount of essence, now i think that it doesnt make sense why the ailadrodd gives more essence than a sok, i think all one-hero locked legendaries should give equal amounts and all-heroes legendaries also the same amount.
Scratching the current legendary upgrading system
i never really liked this system in the first place, i think it was straight up the worst thing that was ever implemented, i also never liked the way the old upgrading system worked. what makes the most sense for me is scratching the current system with the distilling, remove the dusts and make legendary essence dropable from bots, with a rare drop rate maybe as rare as orange legendaries. with that essence u could upgrade any legendaries, orange costing 1 essence, all-hero locked 4 essence and one-hero locked 6 or 8 essences, and removing all other mats. this could fit well together with the drop rate rework i suggested above. now if you did this suggestion, i would happily vote for a full database wipe, even without a wipe, this would be the best way imo
lastly, if the devs did a wipe but with no significant change with the drop rates and crafting system, i think it would simply kill the mod.
