I agree to this one actully I remmber the swords being to big and lways getting cut off and looking horrible on heraldic mail and shields so 3 would work well I think.

Yeah, the problem is for round shields and for the emblem over your head. You really only have a circular shape in the middle of the banner to work with.  For any of the heater/kite/board shields, it gets most of the banner. For all huscarl/heater/kite, you have a bar running vertically. For armor, most of the banner make it too.

Edit: Actually, I made an example that fits in the "circle" (#10), and it's quite honestly, my favorite at this point.
