I think the ability to purchase a respawn mid wave could be a nice feature. To be balanced for all levels it would have be dependent upon a players level or gold amount. E.g. 5% of a players gold down to a minimum of 250 gold OR a players level * 50 or something.
Setting the price high would mean that it wouldnt be abused and would only be used if it could sway the tide in an important boss wave for instance.
