Most games have a "fun" ramp up of resources required for the top tier - see Champion 160 gear in ESO that is literally 10 times as expensive as the previous tier. As in it is exactly 10 times the materials to craft. People that don't feel it is necessary for the +2p or +1% armor simply don't buy it, and there is definitely no shortage of that in ESO. Don't even get me started on the grind in TERA.
As far as the no fun allowed goes, I am not sure if that is really the fault of the game so much as the way game communities work. There is always that one group of people that always wants things to be done in the most grindy/efficient way possible.
People will always find the easiest/fastest spot for grinding and create rules that they expect others to follow on how to get resources the fastest. This isn't to say I agree with it, but I certainly don't think it is something we can blame on NI or even necessarily "fix." It is just a way some people prefer to play their games, just as you prefer to play your games a different way. If you want to play a different way, get a group of friends together and play that way. To clarify my point, I don't disagree with you. I think you are absolutely right, there is a "no fun allowed" aspect to it and it has been present since my redshirt days, and I have had very close real life friends stop playing because they just couldn't enjoy it. However, I don't think this is an issue unique to NI or even something that can really be changed about gear/grind based video games.
I can't really speak for the changes to kiting as I haven't experienced them.
I agree that the trading system could use work.
I agree that the end game gets repetitive, but that has been in part alleviated by certain individuals hosting special fun events in the past (see "Fluffy" events, Christmas and Halloween events, and one-class-only events).
I'm not sure about the super rich really controlling the market. I haven't seen much direct market manipulation. However, I don't see how this is much different from any game or even real life. The only way I can see of preventing this is developer interference, and I'm more of an advocate for free markets.
Do any video games really have a purpose other than to be a fun time sink? If you aren't having fun anymore, then by all means, do something else. Come back later on if you feel like it, don't come back later on if you don't feel like it. You are your own man.
As far as the mod being dead... well... perhaps to you, but there appear to be others that don't think so. I'm not sure saying the game is dead is the best way to go about voicing your concerns on it. I guess it goes back to the point of this thread. Do you want something to change, do you want to express frustration, is this a goodbye letter, or none of the above? What do you want to happen with this?
Edit: I'll go ahead and mention the part about no new content. What exactly does qualify as new content? New maps, bots, items, and classes/skills are about as much as I can see happening, and honestly how is that any less than what other games offer in content expansions? More storyline, perhaps? I'm honestly curious, as I also cannot think of any expansion that is not made up of those things in any other game. Dark Souls expansions are more maps, enemies, and lore (glorious lore), Warframe is generally more of the same with a greater focus on items and story/quests, ESO is more of the same, any paid DLC I can think of is just more of the same, unless we are talking about new mission types in mission based games. I am unsure of what exactly could qualify as new content under that definition other than a whole new game.
