How do i gain class points?

For infantry, it doesn't matter, but: If you are a archer or cavalry you're sometimes better off to convert assist xp to melee,since you gain CP faster.

If you have met the required XP for the Cav class but not the class tokens then yes, otherwise you will get the class tokens but you'll still need to get the XP requirement.
