Lets get the casual iphone ring sound as a loot notification.
Jokes aside I like the idea of a notification sound in case of a legendary drop. Nothing too long, maybe just some short sound appearing like the loot sound in mercenaries.
Regarding the main topic of this thread but not really to the kill feed; I thought about a summary of all the drops you get in a wave maybe on the right bottom of the screen.
It would sum up any mats or whatever you loot per wave so you don't have to bother yourself with pressing "L" to check what you've actually found in when you missed to check the kill feed on the left bottom side.
