Don't know why this post just got bumped, but there have been quite a few changes over the years.
One of the smaller changes is that some legendaries have a different appearance now.
The biggest change is probably the whole Essence & Distill system. Nowadays, legendaries are commonly valued in Essence (from 1E to 6E). You can also distill legendary items you don't need or want anymore to extract Essence from them. That Essence can then be used to upgrade other legendaries (for example, turning a normal legendary into its Blessed or Cursed version).
Upgrading legendaries improves their stats – more armor, less weight, more damage, better accuracy, and so on.
One thing to keep in mind, though: the Essence value is only a rough indicator. Some items may only be worth a few Essence on paper, but can still trade for significantly more depending on demand and rarity.
Good to see people returning to the game. Have fun grinding again!
