What? That experiment was done on conformism. Given some of those experiments were done due to the actions of the Nazies, we know why most of the officers, and some guards, did what they did in those camps. In a interview done by a American psychologist during the Nuremberg Trials, one officer from Auswitch stated that he was providing for his family, and when asked what should be done with him, the officer also stated that he should probably be put to death. This tells you that the man still had a moral center. It's not like you would be praised as a dissident and paraded on tv for speaking up about the slaughter of 6 million jews back then. Records also show that a lot of German citizens knew as well, but everyone learned about it after the war, and a many said that while Hitler was bad, he did create jobs. Even as a monster, the man was given constructive criticism by its people. None of this has anything to do with that experiment.
If a person goes with the group on the basis of irrational thought, that just means that said induvidual has a weak mind. That is something else entierly. That's nothing new. Now, if the experiment involved a vote, on whether or not a town should buy an incinerator, that would be something else entierly.
