As far as I'm aware, the cavalry was nerfed in order to get rid of the "last man standing" problem, when a dozen or so dead players are forced to watch a single rider making endless circles around a crowd of mobs, barely scratching them on each run.
At the same time, there are no gameplay reasons to nerf the cavalry at all. They are definitely not the strongest class. They suck big time everywhere except on two maps. They are rarely, if ever, in the top lines with their frag counts. They can theoretically solo the Beach, but infantry or archers can solo the Village. And the "last man standing" trick can be performed by infantry on the Village map as well, by continuously jumping over the field fences. In both cases, bots are simply too stupid to counter player's tactics.
So assuming that it's not cavalry that is OP, but player behavior that needs to be fixed, I suggest to remove the Great Cavalry Nerf and instead implement the following rule:
For every 60 seconds without a kill, one dead player is allowed to assume control over one surviving bot.
