Blender is not very very approchable indeed. Actually Senni's guide is quite good, even if I would say it lacks of pictures (icon pictures would be welcome). If you had mentioned in your guide that we could take some picts to help, I would have done it while learning
A second thing, personally I have read and understood 95% of the guide and I still don't know, for example, how to change only the colour of an item... If there was a small guide about how to handle Resource and Textures files, then people would learn modeling more easily. And there would be, maybe, more modelers...
Just my opinion about Blender and this guide. Some modelers have done very nice things so far
