Capped character type in single server
#11
Interresting.

Ok first, forcing players to play a certain class is a no-go imho.

If you want to success , teamplay is necessarely ofc, which does include communication, using of your brain , listening to others , tactical understandment and some not-so-selfish people (and there are plenty of them around).

On a public server it is completely random which people you are meeting there, so for me , i make sure to join in with some house members to get some decent shielders and poeple i can rely to.

Also if you talk to the people on the public server you often have some big surprises : they actually listen from time to time, discussing your suggestions and helping the team (ofc there are always some which don`t , as in every single game and life situation i know Smile )

Regarding loot : it is all randomly shared in range, wether you are the killing person or not.

About extra rewards for example the healer\s , their reward is to help out the team to success and furthermore to make sure they reach higher waves (they also get loot there ofc so there is no need for an extra reward imho, same goes for shielding etc).

So, let me hear your opinions !

Well, I see this slightly different. There are two groups of ppl: the ones who bring support stuff (so sacrifice one slot and also money) or shield the team, and the others who don't. Both get the reward for reaching higher waves since both of them are positively affected by presence of support items and shielder.

Furthermore those who don't bring anything and don't shield gain more, since they don't "waste" their time with setting up cades (on a normal serwer I usually miss two first waves, when I try to set up "a camp"), healing or shielding when others are killing. They also dont have to take the risk of respawning every 4th wave to bring more stuff - on The Port Assault it's often a race against approaching Nord and team usually don't bother slowing down enemy. Instead they just focus on killing and staying alive - higher gain with less risk.

If we are rewarding players for pursuing their personal goals (killing as much as possible) instead of rewarding them for contributing to the whole team goal (helping other players survive), then we shouldn't be surprised that ppl act selfishly. People choose the way which offer them the biggest reward with the smallest cost, and in most cases think in a really short-term. Thats just a human nature.

There always will be few vultures who think only about getting as much as possible and not even bothering to buy deployable shield...

While first waves loss isn't much of a big deal(Unless you want kill invaders for quest), on the rest you should choose if you want sacrifice some xp/gp/loot or rush killing because on normal mode none will save to build cades before ~12 wave

Forcing players to play in a team is impossible at least with server rules.
Why dont you join with more players from your house or asking other people to join with certain characters ?
In every sport or esport game you have to speak to each other, help each other and educate each other.
If 80% of the team know how to be efficient the others will easily follow.
But this a part of a well working community and cant be coded !

Think of my post more so of a message rather than a request.

I said at the bottom i know it will not be implimented, im not that stupid.

And i know perhaps i should play with some house events, infact I just did for 2 hours, and you know what, it was fun, we didnt have 10 snipers and 2 commandos, we had 7 or 8 commandos, royal shield wall, hammers behind, exactly 4 snipers (funny about the cap i mentioned) 2 xbowmen and like 3 pikemen.

It worked brilliantly until the floor broke with tomes.

Please dont get me wrong, i'm not saying your not supposed to have fun, if you werent you wouldnt play NI, but you need to think about priorities first, the team ethic is the priority, but have fun at the same time, by doing the team effort, you will get far, and have fun.

In fact, if you beat the game, you will have more fun that wiping at wave 4.

In response to Sophie, where am i stating that we are forcing people to go characters they havent got? If the server has the max 4 snipers then so be it, you arent being forced to go a different character, your being forced to twiddle your thumbs till one rage quits. Its just like saying if a server is 16/16 full, you arent forced to go to an empty server, your forced to twiddle your thumbs till someone quits.

Few? I hope its a joke. 75% more likely. High levels who hoard half of the wave for themselves on normal servers is an everyday sight. I've just finished playing with team on full server and only I and other guy bring the cades.

If I'm playing with other beginning players (T1 - T2) I hoard half the wave too, but they don't complain. Hell, mostly they encourage it Tongue
Mathos only said for like half an hour: "all that assist xp man..."

I'm pretty sure most of them don't mind having alot of assist xp. At least I didn't when I was a noob Tongue
When you're level 4 and you reach the veteran pikemen on normal cuz there are a bunch of high levels in your server, you should be happy Smile

How can you know what classes they need on the server if you haven't connected to it? If I see a map I decide what character, if its for example Mountain outpost I would pick archer, if its a map like fortress under siege I would choose Commando if its the map lake town/swadian Outskirts I would prefer skirmisher/Crossbowman.

(To add, if you really pick a class that has already enough on a server and you relog to swap most of the times the server is full. I would be mad on that  >Sad)

I do hope you get my point, its nearly impossible to pick a good class for certain teams, on the counterside it is possible to pick a good class for a certain map .

The idea is if you double click the server, the server will check whats in it, example:

You are sniper acct, you double click 14/16 game hard mode, message pops up saying: Sorry, game has 4 snipers.

You have many choices:

1) Wait till a sniper leaves
2) Go a different class
3) play a different server
4) Go cook an egg Smile

Basically, with your method of choosing a character for a certain map, this method doesnt require that.

if everyone thought the way you did, everyone would go archer on mountain outpost, no commandos, however with this, there would be max 4 archer, and there would be BALANCE, so you KNOW what the team needs BEFORE you enter.
