30k for pikeman armor is not enough, aim for ~90k so you can get a Pikemans Plated Vest (Over Mail) or Heavy Eastern  Wink

But I have a spare khergit scale armor- blue lying around which I could sell for 30k

Stats:
Weight 7
Body armor 38
Leg armor 16

That sounds good, if you put it on the ah I'll buy it as soon as I get home (using a school computer, NI site is blocked).
Youre right in that I could get better armour if I were to wait but frankly, at the rate I'm earning money, that would take a long time  :'(
