The Amount of People I Dislike in NI Nowadays [Rant]
#1
We know how it always goes from t1 to hero usually, but what gets me now is the amount of people I learn to hate on the way there continuing afterwards. Recently I keep finding offensive players in servers. Such players are all about themselves nowadays and I am seeing people swear at each other shouting hurtful words like... C**t, F****t, and etc. With all my heart, I think these people should get their crayon written "college" degrees ripped up if they ever even graduated in the first place. People always just say "public servers" and turn their heads...maybe we should go back once in a while to normal and have a run or two to leave good impressions on newer members... I'm tired of dealing with ignorant "children" nowadays. 13 and you did my mother? Get real kiddo, just wait for the taxes and bills to kick your ass for me. Anyways, I will continue in the morning with examples of what I see if this thread isn't removed. Anyways, PLEASE... Be nice to new players so I don't have to deal with them when they go bad... Teach them how to use CAPS also. Full capital letter messages hurt my eyes. Hopefully I'm not the only one.

I've been on IRC all day... I can take a break from my study to start swinging the banhammer. Let us know when you run into trouble mate.

I think what he is trying to say is that it shouldn't be a problem in the first place. I have seen it done a lot as well. It can be some of the senior players as well. I remember joining a server on an alt and having a wormbane on it. I was constantly spammed by someone who wanted to buy it for 50k. When I refused he kept saying (and I will quote as best as I can) 'U fukin nub tht is a gret dela. let me buy it'. But there is also people who are very impatient to new people. I saw one guy kill last on a normal server on followers. And he received a torrent of abuse from some people who had been playing the game for awhile because nobody told him about saving last. It is even on forums as well. I took part in a feature request and instead of having a decent debate about it we ending up getting some sarcastic feedback from people some of which were admins. I am not resentful of it, you learn to ignore most of what people say. Honestly Renji I don't mean any offence that is caused but you are not helping by counting the horrible people. There are billions of them in the world so no need to be pessimistic about it (contradictory I know). Instead count people who make the mod more fun and enjoyable. Being in CC I have met a few people which are decent. Kip always helps out people in some way and is willing to let us boost characters in the event and doesn't criticise mistakes. Tjav will poke fun at people which amuses everyone but he'd stop if told to. I hate to include this guy but Winter as well. Me and him got into an argument because I basically forgot someone's name and I couldn't tab while typing a message. But even if we got into an argument and Kip broke it up, he isn't bitter about it (I think). But outside there is all the end tier people which go back on normal with the honest intention to help out the new guys. I remember Usain Bolt helping me and a friend through a few runs. There is that Ramous Coaliki guy who lent my friend a barrel and armour to allow us to have a decent attempt at soloing.

I guess what I am trying to say is that it would be extremely difficult to prevent. It is basically going against a part of human nature. Just try to help out the new players a bit and they won't be as resentful to the people playing the mod. It does take a lot of patience trust me. But if more people did it now and then it might improve the community later. If not then you may have to ask an admin who isn't busy. I am well aware that I started rambling on about after the second line but sod it. I am going to actually return to what I said earlier and help the new people out a bit.

I'm pretty sure there's a topic somewhere stickied that explains saving last.
What F****t mean, Renji?

The last time I helped a newer player by borrowing him gear I lost about 5m worth of stuff.  :Smile

Apart from that I can agree with most of what you have said. It especially irks me when higher level players go as far as refusing to die for their stuff, to ensure none of the others currently on the server can use their precious gear, simply because they do not deem them as "worthy".

On the other hand, I can understand if some of us simply run out of patience having to deal with new players constantly insulting others, misbehaving, being unwilling to learn and improve themselves. There are still good ones among them though, so at least try giving them a chance.

(What puts quite a few people off when starting NI are probably the steep prices compared to the few gold per round they actually earn, but thats a different topic.)

Players take time to learn the ropes, we were all noobs once. Admins and devs can do our bit but its the community that is best placed to teach, guide and keep things fun.

I was on a couple of normal runs last night that went quite well compared to how they have been going over the past month or so.  Last night there were no attempts by the newer players to use the tomes and the saving was quite good.  Over the past month  there have been to many runs that i have been in or my clan mates have been in that the redshirts refused to listen.  Examples include using tomes when the tome bringer said not to, or just simply hiding tomes in their inventory.  Building cades in bad places despite what was said to them.  Not saving last when told multiple times to save and that it was last.

The bad experiences were the reason that normal mode was basically abandoned over the past month or so, unless there was someone that we were trying to level up.  In which case we would get about 8 or so high levels as well as anyone we were trying to level and there was not much room for too many of the public's to join.

However normal mode has not been the only mode where there have been trouble.  Last week I was in a hard server with some of my friends,  and a person named ligeria joined on a level 25 archer it turned out,  Was fine at first as the server was not full.  However when the server filled up, she refused to leave.  In the end the quality of that server went down so much that we ended up leaving when it wiped.  This has not been the first time this has happened.  Just the most recent time that it has happened with me.

Have to agree to some points. The amounth of "LEAVE THE FUCKING SERVER WE ARE SOLOING YOU TWAT" people have increased quite a bit.
Or the people who purposefully ruin the run if others spoil the solo fun. And then there's the worst kind of people:
rich fuckheads who tell others to drop the stuff they left behind while dying for tomes/barrels/SHC or who die with their Legendaries
on their back because noone else is wothy enough to use the stuff the scammed from other people.

All the guys that rage about redshirts, don't drop stuff etc should really grow some brain and think back to the days when
they were redshirts/leveling and were dependant on other's help or did stupid-ish mistakes. Give people time to learn and build some
gear until they can carry themselves. It's not like anyone deserves a perfect run/team just because he's an oldfag.
Appareantly I gave most of my loot chance to Fara. Mostly AFG, rise from the ashes from time to time.

Its "Ligeia", and it is my character. Its an archer alt that I have started not long ago, and currently its level 43. Due to a lack of gear after playing other characters for a while and selling most of my archer equipment it ended up almost naked. Thats why I play it as a medic/juggler mostly, helping the team as much as possible.

Whilst usually the majority of the players on a server understand that I can still be a valuable part of the team without proper gear, there are also those who keep on hating and insulting for absolutely no reason but "your gear is too bad to play here". Its behavior like that which ruins the community.
