Hoplite Suggestion

I was wondering about a buff to Hoplite shielding when shielding adjacent to other Hoplites.  Something like a +2 buff when in a small proximity - say 2m or something or maybe +1 for 2 Hoplites or +2 for 3 or more Hoplites and a maximum of +2.  It would make sense from a strictly Hoplite and Phalanx point of view.

I was also curious since there seems to be a precedent with Mangler and crush through... That Elegy receive a small amount of shield penetration when used without a shield similar to Chosen Valkyries.  Even with the short length the distance is very small where you either don't hit air or bounce.  Much smaller than any other weapon in the game.  It seems to me that only a Commando would have the strength for crush through and if a Marauder has a specific locked weapon with it, there may be some reasoning and precedent for giving Hoplite some bonus for using their top tier specific weapon similar to a Chosen Valkyrie.

Would just give it the same skill as mara in polarm then buff shield skill to 9 or buff throwing to make it in-between Marra/Halb and Mp.

Then becomes a choice of 1 very good polarm and atm some hero locked armours vs good shield skill and its own not as practical but still very good polarm.


I feel like you could nerf mara's throwing maybe making it a class many for slashing vs being able to do both more than fine.

Also be interesting if you made vagabond usable by hoplite as well or just give it its own things.

Shield pen or riot. Keep the extra skill, it's fast enough. Plus one shielding and shield pen on Elegy is all it needs. It's a bounce fest. On Normal.

And remember to get the speed bonus and damage bonus you have to have your shield put away and be in 1H mode. Therefore you cannot parry. So when you bounce, you die.

Also remember as soon as a mara picks up any hoplite polarm we become better than you....

I said this with repeater with cm and that changed I would hope this does to.

Right and that's fine. You're the weapons specialist. I just meant look at it from the point of view of the weapon and using it to the best of its ability. 1H spear mode. You can't even parry! That's an insane disadvantage. Try to engage any enemy/s and never parry then use a weapon with 132 length without the reach advantage of a Mangler/Jorm/PoK/Glaive/Thunder/Sun. You just bounce and die.

In regards to more Polearm skill I just don't want to ask for the whole pie yet. A piece at a time.

Idk about you but I see hoplite like leg. A waste of a hero class till you out into the nords thinking you can solo them all.

What does leg have over every other inf hero to make up for this tr3 skill in throwing? What does hoplite have atm the ability to shield and that's about it. It would make sense to ether upgrade the shield skill or make it even more diverse and buff something like throwing.

If hoplite was to be given the same skill as mara that would fix most things as then you may see people with a normal pike | hoplite pike | and shield. So being more like a leg.

Crush through would be interesting I'm not against it personly but I think that's not were hoplite should go. It's already has more P than the mara locked versions... Giving the ability to block in 1h would be a better buff giving that class abit more usability.

Even if it had more speed to make up for the light armour it does not have atm.

I'd like to add hoplite 1 shielding and ironflesh. Also I think that it would be awesome to increase size of hoplite locked shields by 10. Comparing to inf t5 locked shield - phoenix, Vigilance has 2 less resistance, but 100 more hp. But size matters. Phoenix larger than Vigilance and I fell unsafe shielding with it.

I  think having a small boost for having multiple shielders would add more validity to the class and would make it more desirable to have in a run/event. Not even mentioning the historical side of it.
